ASAP-Analytical Scholars Arguing Policy

ASAP was founded by the Hortons in August of 2003 to encourage the local homeschooling community to practice the arts of successfully engaging society on current policy issues.

Values in Action

Because we believe that every good policy is based upon a value, we encourage students to first find values such as stewardship,  accountability, personal responsibility, life, or the standard of living and then build a policy around that value. For example, a student could choose stewardship as a value, and implement a public policy that requires the government to exercise good stewardship in regards to tax revenues.

All good things come from the Lord

This training teaches students to recognize the motivation behind the action, and how to base their argumentation on a firm foundation. The fun is found in realizing that all good values or principles are already spelled out in biblical principles. Essentially, students learn to utilize those principles in arguing policy changes for a better world. Truly, there is nothing new under the sun.

Always Say A Prayer

While persuasive argumentation skills are a necessary tool in the arsenal of any young Christian homeschooler, it is our goal that all things are done to the glory of God. In light of that, ASAP has a double meaning. To Always Say A Prayer is a constant reminder that God is the Author and Finisher of our faith, and more particularly, He is the reason we communicate.
